My father was born in India to a long line of British colonials. Our Godfrey line goes back directly  to John Godfrey who, judging by his will, was a quite succesful mariner based in Calcutta in the 1790's. Following Godfrey generations included an indigo planter, a magistrate, and a tea planter.

My grandfather was Terence Godfrey, born around 1906, most likely in Calcutta. He split up with my grandmother around 1939 and might have started another family elsewhere. I I would very much like to hear from any other relatives of Terence Godfrey or his brother Norman Godfrey.
